Make this form full page Your message: * Dear Premier David Eby and Minister of Forests Katrine Conroy, I am calling on your government, and BCTS, Louisiana Pacific, and Pacific Woodtech to take immediate action to halt all logging of at-risk old growth in the Seymour River area of the Inland Temperate Rainforest, until the caribou herd planning process and the old growth strategic review is implemented. This globally unique, interconnected ecosystem cannot be replaced. The Seymour River, Blais Creek, and Ratchford Creek are in the heart of what biologists refer to as 'the Hub' area for the Columbia North caribou which now number approximately 200. These cumulative logging proposals from LP and BCTS total more than 620 hectares of predominantly old growth-low-elevation habitat, with several blocks overlapping with recommended old growth deferral polygons and most overlapping provincially mapped core caribou habitat. The loss of this habitat will severely fragment and degrade core caribou habitat and limit connectivity, putting the Columbia North caribou, the largest and most viable of the southernmost caribou herds in BC, at greater risk of extinction. The Inland Temperate Rainforest is one of the most lichen-diverse ecosystems that exists anywhere on earth. Endangered mountain caribou depend on the Inland Temperate Rainforest for their very existence. Critical habitat continues to be logged despite your government’s commitments to protect mountain caribou and old growth forests. This forest development should under no circumstances proceed due to its impact on caribou and old growth. BCTS and Louisiana Pacific/Pacific Woodtech should not put any more money into these developments and should not proceed with any development in the Seymour, Ratchford, Myoff or Blais Creek drainages. The province must prioritise these places for protection given their commitments to caribou and old growth. Thank you for taking my concerns seriously. Sincerely, First Name * Last Name * Not you?
