British Columbia is exploring a new direction to resource management that could see its unique animals, plants and habitats finally receiving the protection they need.
In November 2023, B.C. released its draft Biodiversity and Ecosystem Health Framework. This document will guide the development of new policies and legislation that prioritize nature, such as a law to protect B.C.’s most at-risk species. But its true impact will depend upon how it is implemented.
The public feedback period closes January 31, 2024. We need as many people as possible to voice their support for the framework right now to help counter the industry advocates who’ll be pushing to maintain the status quo. Will you speak up for the change that’s needed?
