Plastic Bag Hammock for Trash2Treasure in Fernie

Ruby decided to tackle the issue of plastic waste with her Trash2Treasure project. She took 400 plastic bags and wove them in a sturdy hammock using a 4 strand braiding technique.

Ruby says “I think we should create less waste because it is dangerous to the environment and can endanger many animals on land and water”.

Trash2Treasure projects are how Isabella Dicken Elementary School’s grade 6 classes will be celebrating Earth Day in 2018. Students use their imagination to take trash and turn it into something useful and display them for the school to enjoy.
