Hike, Bike and Pull those Weeds!

Registration is closed for this event

Come for the trails, stay for the weeds.

We're partnering with East Kootenay Invasive Species Council to host a weed pull in the Columbia Lake Provincial Park. This is part of our Bighorn Sheep Conservation project, to protect the habitat of the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep herd at Columbia Lake.

Everyone is welcome, and especially hikers and bikers who would like to learn how to identify invasive plant species in the area, and then take to the trails with your new knowledge and come back with a bag of weeds! Training will include identification and removal methods, as well as understanding the impact of invasives and recreation on the sheep and other wildlife.

Gloves and bags will be provided, and a tasty barbeque afterwards.

Meet at the Columbia Lake car park for briefing at 10am, then put on your boots or hop on your bike to enjoy the sanctioned trails while keeping an eye out for weeds to remove. We'll gather at 12.30pm to collect the weed bags and enjoy a barbeque together.
